🛑MYOFASCIA PAIN
MYOFASCIA is a compound word combining fascia and muscles[M-Y-O (for muscles + fascia)]. It means fascia, or a layer of tissues that separate muscle layers.
The myofascia serve as a boundary that separates the muscles from the cutaneous tissue (Skin).
Due to repetitively or continuous usage of a particular muscle or muscle groups, the fascia can get stacked to the skin resulting in the absence of lubrication in the muscles during contractions. This will lead to tension within the area and very severe pains will occur around the area.
This is known as myofascia pain syndrome. This is a group of chronic pain disorders that occurs when certain triggers within the muscles causes unrelated pains in the area of the body.
â• ASSESSMENT
Using the tips of your fingers, apply some circular movement on the skin around the area of pain to see if there is free gliding motion. Lack of free movement around the area will indicate myofascia tightness.
🛑MANAGEMENT
As soon as the tightness in the area is released, there is improved lubrication during muscular contractions and pain is relieved.
Using the back of the elbow, knuckles and the palm, adequate compression can be applied at the area to release the so much tension. This will release the fascia if it is stacked to the skin➡️Pain relief.
